great style! the white spots in the paper could suggest that these are penguins in a way, their form is quite similar in that respect but i am no means saying that they are penguins not owls lol. the image looks like the owl on the right is in the background (perspectively) and that they are walking towards the viewer, i know you say that they are on a branch but thats the feel i get from the image, maybe the small owl could have the same style eyes as the owl on the left? really great work!

the funny thing about your comment is, that i also have drawn some penguins that day when i started with my owl sketch(es). well i agree that there are some similarities within those two species recreated on paper by myself. i just had the idea and didn´t used any reference so there´s a mix of differentness obviously

about the eyes:
i´ll give it a try for the next drawing. actually i tried different types of shapes, eyes, detail etc.. to see what i like most. i´ll upload some more when i have the time to finish up my sketches to fine-drawing state.
